FUN THINGS TO DO IN VANCOUVER
Vancouver Sightseeing Attractions

Vancouver Sightseeing Attractions near Graemes Downtown B&B Graeme's B&B is close to great Vancouver sightseeing attractions including Jericho Beach which is one kilometer away. You can drive or walk there very readily. The path along the Beach heads West and offers spectacular views of the waters of Burrard Inlet and the North Shore Mountains. You can walk out onto the pier and watch the smelt fishing and crab hunting. Old and young alike delight in this age-old tradition of "dangling a line"d at the end of the pier.
As you continue West, you will pass people enjoying beach-side sports such as volleyball. Concession stands offer inviting treats. In the evening the sunset over the water and the mountains is a sight to behold. Upon returning, it's comforting to see the sunset glow in the windows of the city skyscrapers, and the twinkling lights of the ships in the harbour.

Cycle Around the City
It's easy to rent bikes on nearby 10th Avenue and cycle along designated streets to Kits Point. From here there is a bike path around the point to colourful Granville Island, all around the city-scape of False Creek, past English Bay and around Stanley Park. Maps of city bike routes are available. Vancouver is a wonderful city to see on your bike.

Kitsilano: The Local Neighbourhood

Getting Around Vancouver

One of the best ways to see Vancouver is to buy a daily bus pass. This allows you to get on and off the bus, the sky train and the sea bus all day. You can sight-see to your heart's content for $6.00-the best travel bargain in town!

1. Downtown

Downtown
Chinatown
  • Visit colorful Chinatown and the peaceful Dr. Sun Yat Sen Gardens.
  • Don't forget Main Street, back on the West Side for fascinating antiques.

2. Granville Island
Once an industrial site on a small peninsula under the Granville Street Bridge, the "dIsland"d was reclaimed by the Federal Government in the 1960's as a public park. You will find something for everyone on Granville Island.

Granville Island
  • Kid's Only Market: shops and activities for kids only and the young at heart. Every kid needs a trip to this fun-filled "dbarn of kid's delights"d
  • Capilano Brewery: our own "dhome brew"d right on the Island. Tours are available.
  • Granville Island Hotel: relax on the patio for lunch or tea or a drink and watch the boats go by.
  • Artisan's Studios: weaving, pottery, glass-blowing, jewelry, Native Indian Art

Gardens and Parks
Don't try to see these all in one day because you are in for the treat of lovely long walks with spectacular views and vistas and restful places for lunch or dinner.

Roses VanDusen Gardens

This is a major botanical garden with many aspects. There is often a festival or a craft show or a plant sale happening. Expect to spend time here as there is much to enjoy. Sprinklers Restaurant is a nice place for lunch.

University of British Columbia

UBC Features three main gardens: the Rose Garden, the Nitobe Gardens and the Botanical Garden, each very different, each worth special attention. (While you're out at UBC, don't forget to visit the Anthropology Museum)

Flowers

Tulips Stanley Park

Once a haven of little Indian villages, this large peninsula between the city of Vancouver and the North Shore, was preserved as a park. You will enjoy walking or cycling on the SEA WALL, a path around the entire peninsula. Other interesting sights include the Aquarium, Brockton Point, totem pole displays, Prospect Point, with views of the Lion's Gate Bridge and the North Shore, and the Ferguson Point Tea House, a nice pace for lunch or dinner. (Don't forget the Hollow Tree, often photographed in days of yore with a little Volkswagen inside!)

Queen Elizabeth Park and the Blodel Conservatory

This is a glorious garden in an old quarry in the side of a small mountain. Many couples have their wedding photographs taken here. The Conservatory is a haven of tropical plants and birds. The Seasons, a restaurant at the top of the mountain has good cuisine and spectacular views of the city.
